David R. Harris, P.T., C.O.
As a graduate of Howard University in 1981, Mr.
Harris entered the field initially as a Physical Therapist, specializing predominantly in pediatric care. Following additional
training at Northwestern University in Orthotics and Prosthetics in 1984, he was subsequently certified in Orthotics by the
American Board for Certification in 1986. The next ten years were spent as co-founder, vice president and chief clinical orthotist/prosthetist
of a well known Washington area practice known as "Orthotic & Prosthetic Specialties, Inc." During this time
period he also served as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Maryland Physical Therapy program for nine years,
providing instruction in the biomechanical principles and design characteristics of orthotic devices. The establishment of
"Access Ability Orthotics, L.L.C." in 2001 marked his return to private practice, with an emphasis this time on
a smaller, more personal version.
